Back in June, our recently acquires female CS:GO roster qualified for the StarLadder Female Stars Championship by taking out Binary Dragons and EYESports, giving us the seed against the 2nd place team in Europe’s qualifier for the tournament. The $10,000 prize pool tournament consisting of CIS’ and Europe’s top talents was hosted in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in a similar fashion to the StarLadder i-League Invitational. The tournament was hosted at a small outside venue during the VKFest, a festival held by the Russian social media website, vk.com.
On the first day, Reason.fe faced off against Team Heaven, the ex-Exertus female roster, who played with a stand-in, Nast1a, but we were taken out 0:2 with scores of 14:16 on Train, and 12:16 on Cache. This sent us to the lower bracket where we would play EYESports, a team we had previously beaten 2:1 during the qualifiers. And much like the qualifiers, we repeated that scoreline and beat EYESports 2:1, with scores of 10:16 on Train, 16:6 on Cobblestone, and 16:8 on Overpass.
After the win against EYESports, Reason.fe where we would face Team Heaven again, as Team Secret beat them 2:1 to claim their spot in the grand final. Now Team Heaven were the only thing standing between us and the grand final. Despite the 2:0 defeat, Reason.fe pulled their own 2:0 victory with scores of 16:11 on Cobblestone, and 16:8 on Cache. T4tty, Ant1ka, and Bloody Elf all dropped 40+ frags total after their match against Team Heaven. This would put Reason.fe in the finals against long-time rivals, Team Secret.
Reason.fe hadn’t beaten Team Secret in their last 3 match ups, falling short against them in the SKYLLA monthly, Copenhagen Games 2016, and DingIt! Weekly #29. The rivalry only added more to the line for Reason.fe. But despite multiple last-ditch efforts, Reason.fe fell to Team Secret again, 2:0, with scores of 16:13 on Cobblestone and 16:10 on Dust 2. Bloody Elf ended the series leading the team with an ADR of 86 and a KDA of 44-38.
While the loss was tough, the comeback to the finals was real, and we are very proud of how our team played and never gave up. Our girls proved that they are one of the best in the world, and we can’t wait to see what they enter next!
